AIIA ACT invites you to join us for a presentation by Caroline Millar, former senior career diplomat and foreign and security policy consultant.
By any objective measure, Europe is one of Australia’s most like-minded and important partners – politically, economically and in terms of innovation and values. It is also a 27-member bloc of about 450 million people with a combined GDP of about $31 trillion and some serious defence capability, even as it needs to build more. So it matters, particularly at this time of tectonic strategic contest, as increasingly coercive big powers tear up or ignore the rule books.
But is the relationship fulfilling its potential? This talk considers how Australia and Europe align, consult or work together to better address shared or similar challenges in the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic.
