The White House has promised potentially “shocking” findings and called for changes to US voting procedures
US President Donald Trump is delivering a primetime address from the White House focused on what his administration described as “protecting the integrity” of American elections.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt previewed the speech as a “major address to the nation,” urging Americans to tune in. She said Trump would present findings that “will shock you” and argue that changes are needed to make US elections safer and more secure.
Trump has offered few details in advance, saying only that the address would cover elections and voting machines, as well as “a couple of other things.”
The administration has recently pressed Congress to approve stricter voter-identification and citizenship-verification requirements. Leavitt described election security as a nonpartisan issue and said Republicans and Democrats alike should support safeguards intended to strengthen public confidence in voting.
