Leidos has revealed that its Black Arrow weapon system, formerly referred to as the Small Cruise Missile (SCM), successfully conducted a guided flight test launched from an AC-130J Ghostrider gunship. Although the trial took place in November last year, details of the event were disclosed only recently by the company.
The company said in a media release, “The test demonstrated aircraft compatibility, system performance, waypoint uplinks, guidance accuracy as well as integration with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Battle Management System (BMS)”
The flight trial took place under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) involving Leidos, the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM), and the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC).
