The Ukrainian Air Force asserted that it successfully downed three Russian Su-34 Fullback fighter-bombers. If proven accurate, this incident would mark a noteworthy single-day setback for the Russian Air Force. Speculation, albeit unconfirmed, suggests that Patriot surface-to-air missiles of U.S. origin could be responsible for the downing.
Post on the official social media accounts of the Ukrainian Air Force announced the downing of three Su-34Ms. The Fullbacks were reported to have been shot down while flying "in the south direction." However, there was no disclosure regarding the specific weaponry employed in bringing them down.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commended the anti-aircraft unit in the Odesa region for successfully downing the Russian jets near Kherson.
Russian authorities have not officially acknowledged any of these losses. Nonetheless, the Russian-language Fighterbomber channel on Telegram, known for its strong connections to the country’s air force, reported at least one "combat loss" with ongoing search and rescue operations.
As per some reports, one battery of Patriot was shifted to the region recently.
