Dr Faiza El-Higzi OAM speaks on the ongoing conflict in Sudan and the potential paths forward to bringing peace to a nation embroiled in a humanitarian crisis.
The ongoing crisis in Sudan has escalated into one of the world’s severe humanitarian and political emergencies. Since April 2023, the conflict has claimed an estimated 15,000 lives, displaced nine million people, and triggered a famine in the western regions. Join us for an in-depth analysis of the factors driving this crisis, tracing its roots to the 2021 power struggle between the leaders of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and the legacy of a dictatorial regime. We explore the prospects for peace and stability in Sudan amidst international interventions, active armed conflict, and the apparent neglect from the global community.
