For nearly a decade since its decision to leave the European Union in June 2016, Britain has experienced a period of political and social turmoil unprecedented in the post-war era: Brexit, COVID, unstable Prime Ministerships, and civil wars in both the Conservative Party and Labour.
Its democratic institutions and political structures came under severe strain. How did they cope? What were the reasons for, and consequences of, this period of turmoil?
