The U.S. Navy has added a new attack submarine to its fleet.
In an official statement, the service confirmed that the nuclear-powered vessel was formally commissioned during a ceremony held Saturday at Boston Harbor.
Construction of the submarine began with the keel-laying on December 11, 2020, at Newport News Shipbuilding, conducted virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions. The vessel was later christened on May 6, 2023, at the same shipyard in Newport News, Virginia.
