The U.S. Navy stopped Iranian warships from seizing oil tankers in waters near Oman on Wednesday, according to an American military official.
On July 5, USS McFaul deterred two attempted commercial tanker captures by the Iranian Navy.
Both of these incidents occurred in international waters.
Viewers may note that this is not the first time Iran has attempted to do something like this.
The seizure of commercial tankers by Iran has been a topic of concern and international attention. Iranian authorities have been involved in incidents where they have detained commercial tankers operating in the region.
