The economic power of NATO, which is an alliance of 32 countries, far surpasses that of Russia. Russia’s economy, while one of the largest in the world, is much smaller than the combined economic output of NATO members.
The combined GDP of all NATO member countries is enormous, estimated to be over 20 times larger than Russia’s GDP.
When comparing the militaries of Russia and NATO, it’s crucial to remember that NATO’s strength lies in its collective defense principle enshrined in Article 5 of its treaty. This means an attack on one member is considered an attack on all, triggering a unified response. Russia, on the other hand, operates as a single, centralized military power.
NATO’s conventional military power is vastly superior in terms of personnel, equipment, and technological sophistication.
