Ukraine’s Defense Forces have destroyed a Russian BM-30 Smerch multiple rocket launcher system that for a long time had been shelling the Mykolaiv region.
The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, reported this on Telegram, citing the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine.
The statement reads, "A few days ago, strike drones and aerial reconnaissance of the Lasar’s Group unit, operating within the area of responsibility of the South Group of Forces in the Kherson region, destroyed a BM-30 Smerch MLRS at a range of nearly 50 km (31 mils).
The regional head also noted that this particular system had been shelling fields in the Mykolaiv region for the past three months.
Depending on the rocket used , BM-30 can hit targets at a range of 130 km or 80 miles.
