Unnamed sources cited by the Wall Street Journal report that Poland has discreetly provided Ukraine with approximately ten Soviet-era Mi-24 attack helicopters. Evidence from pictures and videos shared on social media indicates that the Polish helicopters are currently en route to Ukraine, with sightings of several aircraft being transported on tractor-trailers along Poland’s highways.
While the exact number of Mi-24 helicopters sent to Ukraine remains undisclosed, estimates suggest it to be fewer than twelve. It is worth noting that the Polish Armed Forces currently operates around 28 Mi-24 helicopters in D and B configurations. These helicopters are expected to be replaced by Boeing AH-64E Apache helicopters in the future.
