While a lot of media attention and glamour is associated with a fighter jet, it is not the most critical asset of any Air Force.
Actually, Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) and Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) are some of the most expensive and valuable aircraft in any Air Force’s inventory.
The capabilities of AWACS & AEW&C overlap, their distinctions are not concrete and they are even referred to interchangeably.
These aircraft serve as major force multipliers for combat assets across the services, particularly combat aviation.

They carry powerful airborne radars to detect ships, aircraft, missiles, and other targets and threats at great distances. Among other things, they can significantly enhance the war-fighting capabilities of fighter jets.
It has now come to light that during Operation Sindoor, at least one such Pakistani asset came under attack.

In this video, Defense Updates analyzes how India used BrahMos to hit Pakistani Saab 2000 Erieye AEW&C aircraft ?
