Thirty years ago, Rwanda witnessed one of the most violent and unimaginable events in modern history – the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi which claimed over one million people.

Today, the country is regarded as a model of post-conflict recovery and economic development. Rwanda’s annual GDP growth averaged 8 per cent over two decades, beginning in 2000.

On this, Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Australia, H.E. Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye will shed light on the remarkable strides Rwanda has made in its post-genocide recovery.
