Russian air defense forces downed 59 drones overnight in several regions of the country
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned Kiev against committing terrorist acts on Russian soil. In an interview with the program “60 Minutes” aired on the Rossiya TV channel on Wednesday, Lavrov condemned ongoing drone strikes “committed by the Kiev regime deliberately striking purely civilian targets.” He also called it an “outrageous and a direct violation of all anti-terrorism conventions.” Lavrov warned that any further such actions would trigger an increasingly decisive response from Russia.
The statement comes after the Russian Defense Ministry said air defense forces intercepted 59 Ukrainian drones overnight on December 24-25. The report follows a series of earlier attacks, including on Saturday in Kazan where residential buildings and a factory were targeted. Fortunately, local authorities confirmed there were no casualties from that strike, although it caused significant property damage.
According to military sources, Ukraine launched three waves of fixed-wing drones in its latest assault. Russian air defenses successfully shot down three incoming UAVs while electronic warfare systems took down another three.

Since the conflict escalated in February 2022, Ukraine has increasingly targeted numerous Russian regions, prompting retaliatory measures from Moscow. Russia has repeatedly said it never targets civilians.
