Among the hardware captured during the course of the Ukraine conflict are US-made Abrams and German-made Leopard 2 tanks

Western-supplied military equipment captured by Russian forces during the Ukraine conflict is being showcased at the Army-2024 expo held on the grounds of Patriot Park just outside of Moscow.

The event, which kicked off on Monday and is scheduled to run through Wednesday, features more than 28,000 exhibits. Aside from the general public, some 120 foreign delegations are attending the expo as well.

On display at the expo is an assortment of captured Western armor, including US-made Abrams and German-made Leopard 2 tanks, as well as a US-made Bradley fighting vehicle.

Some of the vehicles are visibly damaged, while others appear to be intact.

However, the main focus of the exhibition is on presenting cutting-edge Russian-made weaponry. This year, visitors can see a compact wheeled-robot called ‘Depeche’ that can perform a whole range of roles on the battlefield, including serving as a platform for autonomous weapons systems or as an explosives-laden kamikaze drone.

A new iteration of the Supercam S350 reconnaissance UAV is also being unveiled. This drone family has already proven its mettle on the battlefields of the Ukraine conflict.

Several other pieces of Russian military hardware that have been modernized based on what has been learned from the ongoing hostilities are also on display.

Since the start of the Ukraine conflict back in February 2022, numerous NATO member states, including the US, Germany, the UK and France, have been providing Kiev with increasingly sophisticated weaponry, including battle tanks and long-range missiles.

Russia insists that no amount of arms supplies will change the outcome of the conflict but will only serve to prolong the bloodshed and increase the risk of a direct military confrontation between NATO and Moscow.
