The warning comes amid President Donald Trump’s repeated threats of military action unless Tehran signs a nuclear deal

Upcoming talks on Tehran’s nuclear program will decide whether US soldiers “go to hell or return to America,” Ebrahim Rezaei, an Iranian MP and spokesman for parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, has warned.

The remark came as US President Donald Trump ramped up threats of military action unless Iran accepts a deal curbing its nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Indirect talks resumed earlier this month under Oman’s mediation, with a third round due in Geneva on Thursday, where Tehran is expected to table a draft agreement. Trump last week set a 15-day deadline for the deal and later said Tehran would face a “very bad day” if it is not reached.

“Thursday’s negotiations are a test for Trump and will determine whether American soldiers will go to hell or return to America,” Rezaei wrote on X on Sunday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said earlier that Tehran is ready for military confrontation if diplomacy collapses and would target US bases if attacked. He rejected demands to halt uranium enrichment, calling Iran’s nuclear program peaceful and essential for energy security, and stressing its missile program is a “red line” and “strictly non-negotiable.”

Earlier, Reuters reported that the Pentagon was preparing for a sustained, weeks-long campaign against Iranian security and nuclear sites if talks failed.

However, Axios and The Wall Street Journal reported this week that General Daniel Caine, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff and architect of last year’s strikes against Iran, warned officials about the risks of a new campaign against Tehran including casualties, strained air defenses, and an overworked force. The Financial Times cited Israeli intelligence officials as saying the US has the military capacity to sustain only four to five days of intense strikes, or about a week at a lower intensity.

Speaking at a weekly briefing on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said any US strike, regardless of scale, would be treated as “an act of aggression” and met with a “ferocious” response.
