The discussions will focus on topics from economic sovereignty to demographic challenges, the organizers say

Experts and visionaries from across the world will gather in Russia later this month to discuss the forces that will reshape the global economy in the decades ahead, from digital currencies to demographic decline.

The January Expert Dialogues will take place on January 30 at the Russia National Center in Moscow as part of the ‘Open Dialogue: Future of the World. A New Platform for Global Growth’ forum.

The keynote address will be delivered by Maksim Oreshkin, the deputy head of the presidential administration, who will present a report on “megatrends emerging from a period of global transformation.”

“It is important to have an open dialogue about how we build the world of the future and how we form a new platform for global growth,” Oreshkin said.

He added that key questions include where growth will emerge, which technologies will drive it, and what principles and cultural foundations it will rest on, stressing that progress should benefit people across countries working toward a shared future.

The organizers say the discussions will feature prominent foreign economists and visionaries, with five broad themes expected to dominate the agenda. One is economic sovereignty, with speakers set to examine why control over standards, platforms, and critical supply chains is more important than formal participation in global institutions.

Another topic is a new stage of automation and a transition from automating labor to automating entire institutions.

Digital currencies will also be discussed as a core element of a changing financial architecture.

Another key focus will be demographic imbalance as a central constraint for development.

The final topic looks at how technological change is reshaping labor markets and various walks of life.
