Lockheed Martin has released footage of the second flight test of the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) Increment 2, a variant being developed to provide strike capability against moving targets at ranges of up to 500 km (310 miles).
The company published video of the missile being launched from an M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launcher on its social media channels. The flight itself reportedly took place in August 2026, approximately five months after the first Increment 2 test in March. The latest test generated data covering the missile’s flight performance, launch sequence, protective cover separation, and terminal engagement of the target.
According to Lockheed Martin, additional flight testing of the Increment 2 missile is scheduled for 2027. The company also emphasized that production preparations are progressing in parallel with the flight-test campaign, with manufacturing capacity expected to expand in line with future procurement requirements.
The announcement follows a September 13 contract awarded by the U.S. Army, with a potential value of up to $1.2 billion, to support the operationalization of the PrSM capability. The contract includes development activities and procurement of the initial batches of PrSM Increment 2 missiles.
