MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 8, 2026 — RT Academy, RT’s international educational project, has announced the launch of its first free online intensive course for journalists and media professionals from South Asian countries, providing a unique pathway into international journalism and the communications industry.

“We’re excited about the breadth and depth of talent amongst South Asia’s young media professionals and are committed to helping them advance their careers. That’s why we’re launching an online intensive program that combines expert training, hands-on practice, and mentorship from our seasoned international journalists,” Anna Kovtunova, head of RT’s Educational Projects, said.

The new program, titled “Uniting South Asia: Bring Your Voice to Shape the Future Media Landscape,” will commence on October 5, 2026 and run for three weeks. Applications are open until September 27, 2026. The course is free of charge and conducted in English; places are limited and will be filled through a competitive selection process. Exceptional participants may be considered for positions within the RT team.

The course features dozens of pre-recorded video lessons paired with live webinars led by RT’s top correspondents, anchors, producers, and newsroom specialists. The curriculum encompasses the entire media production cycle and practical skills essential for modern journalism.

RT Academy’s first online intensive course available to the entire South Asian region follows a successful 2025 initiative aimed at top media faculty students from India, further expanding RT Academy’s reach and reaffirming its commitment to nurturing journalistic talent across South Asia.

RT Academy, launched in 2024, has previously offered online courses for journalists from Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN), India, China, and Africa. The academy provides free online courses, in-person workshops, and in-house training for both aspiring and professional journalists. To date, over 10,000 students and professionals from more than 80 countries have completed RT Academy programs, many of whom have gone on to work with RT.

The international RT television network includes news channels in English, Arabic, Spanish, German, Serbian, and French, alongside the RTD documentary channel in Russian and English. RT also operates online portals in ten languages and the global multimedia agency RUPTLY, which supplies exclusive content to broadcasters worldwide. RT is available 24/7 to more than 950 million viewers in over 100 countries.
