The attack has damaged some residential buildings in the suburbs, local authorities have said
Ukraine launched a new wave of drone strikes on Moscow overnight, sending more than 390 UAVs toward the Russian capital, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has said. While there have been no reports of casualties, regional authorities have reported some damage to residential buildings.
In a statement on his Telegram channel on Tuesday, Sobyanin said that the “majority” of the aircraft had been intercepted far from Moscow, with 81 destroyed as they neared the capital.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said a residential building in Chekhov, a town some 50 km south of Moscow, took a direct hit, and that emergency crews have been dispatched to the scene. Local authorities have confirmed that there were no casualties.
Vorobyov added that debris from other downed drones sparked fires elsewhere in the region, including burning tires at an open site and setting a house ablaze in the nearby village of Vaulovo.
A Ukrainian drone has also hit a civilian bus in Belgorod Region, injuring 19 people, according to local governor Alexandr Shuvayev.
Russian Foreign Ministry envoy-at-large Rodion Miroshnik, who is in charge of tracking Kiev’s alleged war crimes, said that Ukrainian strikes have killed 57 civilians, including seven children, over the past week, leaving another 435 wounded. He added that drone strikes alone accounted for 91% of the people affected.

The attack also comes as Ukraine has been launching deadly strikes on the warehouses of Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, often dubbed the country’s answer to Amazon. Kiev has claimed the facilities supply sanctioned components for drone production and equipment for front-line troops, while Moscow has denied that the retailer is in any way involved in supplying the military.
In response to the long-range raids, Russia has been retaliating by striking Ukraine’s military-related industry, including drone-producing facilities.

The latest barrage comes hours before Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky is due to meet US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday. The talks coincide with a memorial service in Washington for the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime Russia hawk and advocate of US support for Kiev.
Reuters reported last week, citing a Ukrainian source, that Washington and Kiev had been discussing a proposed air ceasefire to present to Moscow as part of a new push to revive stalled peace talks. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, however, cast doubt on whether the report is true, adding that Moscow had received no concrete proposal.
In an interview in late June, Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged that Ukrainian strikes cause some damage but said it is not critical and can be quickly repaired.
