U.S. Marines stationed in Okinawa have formally received the installation’s first Navy-Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS) and Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS), marking another significant milestone in the Corps’ modernization efforts across the Indo-Pacific.
The introduction of these advanced capabilities underscores the Marine Corps’ commitment to strengthening expeditionary combat power and enhancing deterrence in an increasingly contested regional security environment.
The systems were received by personnel from the 12th Marine Littoral Regiment (MLR), 3rd Marine Division, where they will play a central role in the unit’s evolving mission set.
