Iman Nabhan told RT he was held in an iron container for 15 days after refusing to become an Israeli informant

A Palestinian man has told RT that Israeli forces locked him in a coffin-like box for over two weeks after he refused to become an informant, amid mounting allegations of abuse in Israeli detention facilities.

Iman Nabhan said he was held in “an iron container with a wooden box inside it,” where his hands and feet were tied. He claimed that during his detention, Israeli personnel fed him through a hole and let him out for just one minute whenever he needed to use the toilet.

“It seemed they wanted to make me feel like I was dead so they could get whatever information they wanted,” Nabhan said. “I stayed inside that coffin for 15 days. I felt like I was alive in a dead body.”

The former prisoner said Israeli forces tried to pressure him into collaboration by offering money, foreign travel, and medical treatment opportunities for his mother, all of which he refused.

The testimony comes as Israel faces growing accusations over the treatment of Palestinians and pro-Palestinian activists in its custody. Earlier this week, Australian members of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla accused Israeli forces of rape, sexual assault, beatings, humiliation, and torture after they were detained and deported.

Previously, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir personally posted footage of the detained flotilla activists kneeling with their hands tied after Israel intercepted the aid convoy. In one video, he was seen waving an Israeli flag and taunting the detainees, telling them: “Welcome to Israel, we are the landlords.”

Ben-Gvir, who oversees Israel’s prison system, has repeatedly taken a hard line on Palestinians, championing legislation mandating hanging for those accused of terrorism, and claiming that detainees should receive “the minimum of the minimum” in food.

The Israeli minister has also dismissed Palestinian nationhood outright. In November, he claimed that “there is no such thing as ‘Palestinian people’.”
