Ascertaining who was behind the killing of over 160 schoolgirls in Minab doesn’t currently matter, according to William Fallon

Questions over who bears responsibility for the killing of over 160 schoolgirls in an airstrike in Iran are irrelevant, former CENTCOM commander Admiral William Fallon has suggested in a heated exchange with Afshin Rattansi on Going Underground.

The February 28 strike on the Shajarah Tayyebeh elementary school in Minab came on the first day of the unprovoked US-Israeli attack on Iran. The bombing killed at least 175 people, almost all of whom were children.

In his interview with Rattansi, Fallon was asked whether the school was deliberately targeted, as it had housed the daughters of Iranian military personnel, and about who ultimately bears responsibility for the massacre.

Fallon rejected the notion that the school was targeted deliberately, suggesting it could have been a “mistake.” He also refused to comment on who bears responsibility, stating that “frankly, I don’t think that’s the important issue right now.”

“The important issue is decisions that are taken in international affairs that end up resulting in conflicts,” he said, going on to justify the ongoing US-Israeli campaign and insisting that Tehran is to blame for the conflict as it has been “a very, very bad influence in this area.”

Despite video evidence pointing to a US Tomahawk missile being involved in the massacre in Minab, the White House has refused to admit responsibility. The atrocity has drawn global condemnation, including in the US, where commentator Tucker Carlson warned America is “not worth fighting for” if it refuses to admit the mistake.

Check out the full episode of Going Underground, which airs exclusively on RT, for the complete heated exchange between Fallon and Rattansi.
