The former leader was previously reported to have been killed in a US-Israeli strike on Tehran

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is still alive and well despite recent reports that he had been killed in an US-Israeli airstrike on Tehran, one of his close aides has told RT.

It had previously been reported that the 69-year-old, who served as Iranian president from 2005 until 2013, was killed in Narmak, eastern Tehran when Washington and West Jerusalem launched an unprovoked attack on Iran, killing the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

However, a source close to the former leader has dismissed the reports, telling RT that Ahmadinejad was not harmed.

The source confirmed the report by the Anadolu news agency on Sunday, citing one of Ahmadinejad’s advisers, that the former president had been moved to a safe location. The person confirmed that a building associated with Ahmadinejad had indeed been struck and that three of his bodyguards were killed in the attack.

”His own residence remained unaffected and was not targeted,” the advisor said, noting that the building struck was 100 meters away.

Iranian media had previously reported that Ahmadinejad’s family has also denied the reports of his death.
