At least 15 people have been killed and 43 remain missing, the Coast Guard said
A ferry carrying 332 passengers and 27 crew members sank in the southern Philippines on Monday after capsizing en route from Zamboanga City on the island of Mindanao to Jolo island, the Coast Guard said.
At least eight people were initially confirmed dead, according to Arsian Laja Kahing-Nanoh, a mayor in Basilan province. Basilan emergency responder Ronalyn Perez told AFP that at least 138 people had been rescued.
The Philippine Coast Guard later revised the death toll to 15 and said 43 people remain unaccounted for.
Video from the scene shows multiple passengers floating in the water while clinging to emergency rafts, some of them wearing life vests.
