The U.S. Navy announced that between September 17 and 21, as part of its Strategic Systems Program, it conducted a series of test launches involving four Trident II D5 Submarine Launched Ballistic Missiles. The missiles, launched from Ohio-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines, successfully flew to the target locations, demonstrating the reliability and accuracy of America’s sea-based nuclear deterrent. The Trident II D5 has now completed 197 total successful missile flight test launches.
