Rebel group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has seized the Jaffar Express train in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan. The group has abducted 214 Pakistani soldiers and killed 50 till now.
Balochistan was annexed by Pakistan in 1948 – some accounts describe it as a military occupation at gunpoint.
The Baloch people’s anger against Pakistani governement stem from decades of perceived neglect, exploitation, and repression in Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but least developed province.
