The wave of attacks has also damaged military airfields and an energy facility, according to the Defense Ministry
Russia has carried out a wave of strikes aimed at a Ukrainian energy facility, as well as several military and defense industrial targets, including a naval drone assembly site, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said.
In a statement released on Wednesday, officials said Russian warplanes, UAVs, and missile and artillery forces “successfully struck an energy facility that ensured the functioning of a Ukrainian military-industrial enterprise.”
It added that the attack also targeted “infrastructure at military airfields and a location where unmanned boats were being assembled.”
The ministry did not specify the exact whereabouts of the Ukrainian targets, or provide any further details. However, Ukrainian media overnight and in the morning reported explosions in Kiev and the Ukrainian-controlled cities of Zaporozhye and Kherson, without elaborating on the extent of the destruction.

Moscow has consistently maintained that its long-range strikes are aimed at degrading Ukraine’s military capabilities, stressing that they never target civilians. It has said that some of its attacks in recent months came in retaliation for recurring Ukrainian strikes targeting residential buildings and critical infrastructure, including oil processing plants. One of Ukraine’s recent attacks in Russia’s Kherson Region was aimed at a hospital, killing one health official and injuring the head doctor of the facility.
